China Medal with Relief of Pekin Clasp incorporating Research / Documentation & affiliated items

We have been fortunate enough to be offered the following Medal Grouping on a consignment basis directly from the recipient's family.
The China War Medal with Relief of Pekin Clasp correctly impressed to the recipient Gunner James Strachan Service No 2021 Royal Marine Artillery.
Born on 18th June 1864 into the farming community of Lyne of Skene, Aberdeenshire he enlisted in the R.M.A in Edinburgh on 1st December 1882 . Posted to Eastney Barracks , Portsmouth he served time on both H.M.S "Agamemnon" & "Shannon". At the outset of the Boxer Rebellion Gunner Strachan was serving on H.M.S "Barfleur" and was engaged in action in June 1900 "TAKU FORTS" for which he was awarded the Pekin Medal in 3rd January 1903.
Demobilised in 1905 {Age related 42 years} he commenced work with Aberdeen Council. At the outbreak of WW1 he was re-mobilised on 16th September 1914 and appointed shore duties on the home front. In 1917 he was appointed as an Orderly at the British Embassy in Washington. De-mobilised for the second time on the 29th March 1919 he returned to Liverpool on SS "Adriatic" before recommencing employment with Aberdeen Council.
James never married and lived with the vendor's Grandmother till his death at the age of 70 from Angina.
